The traditional resume has some limitations.  It is merely a brief summary of places and date of employement, education, and associations.  It lacks the depth and context needed that a online career portfolio can provide.  Also, I think an online career portfolio is a good tool to review my past progress and recall various projects and accomplishments I have been associated with.  I think of it basically as a career journal that is continuosly updated.
